Annunciation Novena:  March 16-24, 2020

Join us in praying a special novena March 16-24 in preparation for the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord on March 25.  Let us follow the example of Mary and call upon her intercession to help us open our hearts to say “yes” to God!

Prayer:

O most holy Virgin Mary, to whom God sent the Angel Gabriel to announce that you should be the mother of His Only-Begotten Son, pray for us who have recourse to you. Holy, lovely Mary we give our all to you what is past and present, and the future, too. Blessed be the holy and Immaculate Conception of the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.  Amen.

40 Days for Life Campaign Continues Through April 5, 2020

Your prayers are working!  Over 100 babies have been saved so far...praise God!  If you have not already, please consider joining the worldwide movement to protect mothers and babies.

40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses.  There are two vigils nearby (Sacramento and San Andreas).  For more information (and to sign up for vigil hours) please visit 40daysforlife.com.  If you would like to join other parishioners at the vigil in Sacramento, please contact Carol Gamble at 209-509-5735.

25th Anniversary of Evangelium Vitae:  March 25, 2020

Wednesday, March 25, marks the anniversary of the papal encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), written by Pope St. John Paul II.  This document on the value and inviolability of every human life remains an indispensable source of truth for all people.  It reaffirms the “greatness and the inestimable value of human life” (EV 2), and addresses present-day legal, ethical, and moral threats to life, including abortion, artificial reproduction techniques, contraception, capital punishment, euthanasia, sterilization, and suicide.

Thousands Gather at Walk for Life 2020

Saint Katharine Drexel Parish was well represented at the 16th Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 25.  Nearly 100 parishioners joined other walkers for a joyous celebration of life!  We listened to inspirational speakers such as Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life prior to a peaceful, prayerful walk down Market Street.  The goal of the walk is to be a vocal and visual message that people of the West Coast stand for life, to reach out to women harmed by abortion, and to inform society of the damage done to women, men, families and society.

Consider joining us next year and participate in the Culture of Life and Mercy embodied by Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Francis.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Called together by Jesus Christ, who came to restore us to friendship with the Father, we continue the work of our Savior to bring salvation to all peoples through the life-giving Church He established.

MISSION STATEMENT

Inspired by the example of St. Katharine Drexel, we strive to serve the Lord by:

  • Making the Eucharist the source and summit of our lives

  • Building intentional community

  • Preaching the Gospel to the people of Amador County

  • Forming missionary disciples

  • Reaching out to those in need
